I had this recently as a side in a restaurant so thought I'd have a pop at making them.
The Coronation Quiche recipe was created for the coronation of King Charles
It's a light quiche with flavours of Spinach, broad beans and tarragon.
This recipe amends the original to make it a little more convenient to make, using ingredients that are more readibly available.
Also sometimes called Oopsie bread, or cloud bread, this is a grainless bread substitute
It doesn't rise much, but works well as a replacement for things you'd normally use bread rolls for, particularly as buns around a grilled chicken breast, just make sure the filling sits well with a slight egg flavour
This recipe grinds black pepper over the top, but you can sprinkle seeds instead if preferred
We've been trying to reduce our meat consumption a bit, and Halloumi's a good way to do that, rather than a 3 quid tub of chicken you need a 1 quid block of cheese
This makes a quick and lazy halloumi and veg korma - the Co-op does a good stir in sauce
A nice simple mediterranean style dish. Quick, cheap and easy to prepare, if you really need veg then lardons can be mixed in with the veg before cooking
Goes well when served with bread and oil as a side.
I've been experimenting with making meals without meat in them, the idea being that we could (once or twice a week) potentially have a meatless meal - bringing food costs down, as well as introducing a bit more nutrition variety.
This is a slightly amended version of Jack Monroe's "Carrot, Cumin Kidney Bean Burgers". In the original recipe, the Cumin does most of the flavouring work, and we just felt like it was missing something...
In the photo, they're served in a pitta bread with tomato chutney and mixed leaf salad - Also had wedges on the side.
This is an adjustment of Jack Monroe's Peach Chickpea Curry.
It adds some potato (not only do I like curried potato, but I fine I need the bulk) as well as increasing the spice. To offset the increased spice, some raisins are added to contribue sweetness (plus they absorb curry juice for a delicious taste).
It's easy to cook, and doesn't require too much effort.
If you keep a little back when serving, then the next night you can re-heat, mix into pasta and serve with chopped sausages.
Makes a good side dish, lightly dressed asparagus is gorgeous!
Great as a starter, but also works quite well as a side. Everyone loves stuffed peppers!
Great as either a side or part of the main course
